In the spring of 2020, in the middle of a tumultuous epidemic, four musicians joined forces to
conquer the world. With each of them bringing their own unique flavors to the mix, their party
consisted of Rick on drums, Rob on bass, Martijn on rhythm guitar and Michael on lead guitar. But
they soon discovered, that one crucial ingredient was missing...
So, they embarked on a journey to find the missing piece. Entirely by chance, they stumbled upon
Janneke as a lead singer. She had been active as a singer/songwriter at the time, but her yearbook
picture could testify that her roots dug firmly into punk/hardcore grounds.
Cautiously optimistic they had their first rehearsal as a full band, completely unaware of what was
about to happen - it was magic. Within the first rehearsal they wrote their first song together as a
group, the first of many to come. SugarPunch! was born.
SugarPunch! is described as Heavy Alternative Punk, though they love to explore a little bit of genre-
bending from time to time - like their occasional side-steps into metalcore. Artists they have been
compared to the most are Avril Lavigne, Skunk Anansie, Royal & The Serpent and The Distillers.
SugarPunch! independently released their debut single 'Let You Fall' in 2022. Shortly after, they
teamed up with producer Frans Vermast (Heideroosjes, Nailpin) to record the next single 'I Want It
All', which was released in 2023. Unfortunately, after the second single was released, their bass
player Rob made the difficult decision to quit the band. Luckily, SugarPunch! found an incredible
replacement in Gerwin, who took over the low notes department.
In 2024 the band released their first EP 'Damn Honey'. Both the title track as well as the single of the
EP 'His Girl Now', were released with a music video. There's no denying that the EP got some good
feedback, and proof is found in several reviews.

For the last two years the main focus of the band has been to promote their EP 'Damn Honey' and
previous singles. After steadily touring through the Netherlands and its surrounding countries, they
traded in their live shows for studio sessions.
The band found a new home at Toneshed Recordings Studio (Horst, NL). Alongside producer Erwin
Hermsen, they worked on new recordings.
March 30th 2026 SugarPunch! releases their newest single 'Window'. Once again they deliver a
music video to go along with it.
Armed with a DIY mentality, this band has proven itself time and time again on various stages,
whether it being a small club or a big festival. They deliver.

climbed it already. Those many gigs definitely pay off. Poppunk, heavy rock and a strong frontwoman.

When it comes to a SugarPunch! live show, there is no denying their mission: MOVE!
Janneke knows how to keep the eyes on her during their full set, in which she effortlessly switches
back and forth between vocal cord-ripping aggression and tender whispers.
While Martijn, Gerwin and Rick create an indestructible wall of sound, Michael and Janneke take the
reins in making it an unforgettable live performance.
SugarPunch! never fails to create a space full of energy, in which jumping, moshing and dancing is
inevitable. Armed with catchy melodies and sing-a-long lyrics, they guarantee the audience an
experience that will last a lifetime.
In 2026 SugarPunch! will be focusing on their newest single, hoping more music lovers will get to
meet their new favorite band.
SugarPunch! is a female-fronted, heavy alternative punk band from Weert, the Southern part of The
Netherlands. Their music is a mixture between punk, pop and metalcore. Taking sweet catchy
melodies and throwing in some delicious dirt between the lines.
